Updated 1:37 p.m.: Armed man barricaded Police say a man who led officers on a high-speed chase through Los Angeles before climbing onto a roof with what appeared to be an assault rifle may now be barricaded inside a North Hollywood residence, according to NBC4.
Multiple schools in the area were on lockdown as of mid-day while police conducted a search.
NBC4 reports the residence is in the 11600 block of Hartsook Street, just blocks from the Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood Station, and has more information on how the pursuit began:
The man is wanted in connection with a woman's report of a criminal threat "a few days ago," according to police. He was located Monday morning in El Sereno and fled after encountering officers, [LAPD Lt. Andy] Neiman said.
The Los Angeles Times reports that SWAT officers were surrounding the home and that no one else is believed to be inside, but it was unclear whether they are in communications with the suspect.

The chase began about 10:15 a.m. in the 4900 block of Axtell Street in the El Sereno area, according to Los Angeles police Officer Wendy Reyes of the Media Relations office. TV news video showed the suspect exit his vehicle with what appeared to be a rifle in his hand and make his way to the roof of a house.
Police are telling residents near the 11600 block of Hartsook Street to stay in their homes, and nearby schools are on lockdown.
The siege began after a Monday morning auto pursuit on Los Angeles freeways. The man finally abandoned his car and climbed to a rooftop where he paced with what appeared to be a rifle. He then climbed down from the roof into an area with extensive tree cover.
Police Officer Wendy Reyes says the man was initially wanted for making criminal threats. Reyes says a SWAT team is en route and police have set up a perimeter.
NBCLA reports speeds reached an estimated 100 mph before coming to a stop and exiting his vehicle from the 170 Freeway.
